- Why is ADT increasing my monitoring and service rates?
- The last residential escalation occurred more than a decade ago although business costs have increased steadily during that time. In order to maintain the high level of service you have come to rely on, ADT has implemented an increase in its alarm monitoring and service rates. ADT constantly strives to improve the quality of its service and this rate change will help ADT to continue to maintain and enhance the services we provide to you, our valued customer.
- Why is the increase shown on my invoice greater than the increase stated in the letter I received from ADT?
- The increase quoted in your letter was the amount your service charge has increased on a monthly basis. If you are billed quarterly, semi-annually, or annually, your invoice will include the increase for all months you were billed for. Also, your increase may be slightly more due to applicable taxes.
- How can other alarm companies charge less for their services?
- ADT's Customer Monitoring Centers use some of the most advanced technology available in the security services industry, and that technology is just one of the advantages of having your security system monitored by ADT. ADT's coast-to-coast integrated network of monitoring centers and national resources offer real advantages over smaller, traditional, locally-based fire and intruder service providers, who may charge less, but cannot match the level of service that ADT can provide.
- When will this increase go into effect?
- The rate change coincides with the effective date of your current billing period. If you were notified with a letter included with your invoice, then the enclosed invoice reflects the increased rate. If you were notified by a letter that referenced your credit card or automated billing payment, then the increase will be effective on the date of your next billing cycle.
- What about the contract I signed - doesn't that fix the amount ADT can charge me for services?
- While ADT makes every effort to keep monitoring and service fees low, at times we need to reevaluate our rates due to increasing costs of doing business. Thus, ADT contracts allow for increases after completion of the first year of the contract.
- How do I take advantage of the Automatic Payment option?
- With the Automatic Payment Option, your monitoring fee can be automatically charged to your bank account or credit card. To set up an Automatic Payment Plan, please complete the Electronic Payment Options form on the back of your invoice. For faster processing, please fax your completed form to 1-888-533-7078.
- Will I be subject to another rate increase in the future?
- While we periodically review our costs, we always try to give our customers the best value possible. At this time, there are no other increases scheduled.
- My neighbors pay less for ADT than I do. Will their rates increase as well?
- ADT is reviewing all its residential monitoring and service fees - so your neighbor's fees will likely increase. However, certain customers are excluded from the increase. For example, customers who recently signed up for ADT service are excluded because they were already charged the higher prevailing rates.
- If I move to a new home, will my rates increase again?
- Rates are based on a variety of factors, including the types of services you have with ADT. If you move, your basic monitoring rate will likely not increase. Please be aware, however, that tax rates fluctuate. Therefore your total bill may change based on the tax rate accessed in the area you move to.
- How can I take advantage of the insurance discount?
- Depending on your insurance carrier, you may be able to save a percentage on your basic homeowner's insurance premium with a monitored home security system from ADT. To take advantage of this discount, call your insurance company and provide them with your ADT Homeowner's Insurance Guarantee Certificate that was sent with your welcome materials. This certificate will serve as validation for your insurance company that you have had the system installed in your home.
