Don't allow pets, balloons, electric fans, or heaters of any type in areas monitored by a motion sensor.
Don't place chimes, hanging plants, or anything else that moves or sways near a motion sensor.
Don't turn on your system until you're sure all drapes and blinds in the path of a motion sensor are clear of air vents.

What to do when the alarm goes off.
The first reaction, on hearing your alarm, is panic. Obviously, if an alarm is ringing there's a problem and probably a big one. This isn't necessarily true. But it's still human nature to get startled by an alarm and then think the worst. Here's a few simple tips on what to do when your alarm goes off:
- Stay calm; don't panic.
- Determine if there really is a fire or an intruder.
- Turn off your system by carefully entering each number of your user code.
- ADT will not call if you cancel your alarm within your allotted delay period.
- Be ready to identify yourself with the Customer Monitoring Centre; know your Personal Identification Code.
